Welcome! I’m Greg Loman, a professional touring musician, producer, and educator based in Los Angeles. Originally hailing from Bordeaux, France, I’ve been active in the vibrant rock and jazz scenes of Washington D.C. and now L.A. for the past twenty years, both on stage and in the studio. These days I perform with a wide variety of artists, most notably the tribute act Red Not Chili Peppers, as well as a rewarding original project The Resilient, which CBS News described as “some of the most important music being made in America”.

The Resilient

Greg’s reputation as a guitar player and a teacher in D.C. earned him the position of senior artist-in-residence for the “revolutionary” (Wall Street Journal) MusiCorps program at Walter Reed Military Hospital, where he helped severely wounded recovering combat veterans find peace through musical exercises. Their dedication led Greg and his new comrades to collaborate and perform live alongside Roger Waters, Yo-Yo Ma, Billy Corgan, Ricky Scaggs, G.E. Smith, Tom Morello, and the Kansas City Symphony. Their story was featured on the 300th episode of the television show NCIS, which they recorded music for. Through these extraordinary bonding experiences, The Resilient, an original rock band, was formed.

Red Not Chili Peppers

For the last five years, Greg has traveled and performed as the guitarist in Red Not Chili Peppers, a world class tribute act to RHCP. The band plays at least 60 shows a year, and recently headlined the 7s Rugby tournament in Dubai. Check upcoming tour dates to see if they’re coming to your town!

Film Scoring

Greg’s first foray into the world of film production resulted in the experimental short ‘The Halcyon’, which he not only starred in, but provided the musical score with pianist Harry Waters. Greg contributed guitars, bass, keyboards, and flute for the genre-defying film, which was picked up for distribution by online streamer DUST and premiered in October 2020. Greg and Harry have since re-collaborated, scoring the upcoming short film ‘Proxy’ premiering in 2022.

You Should Check It Out

Greg co-hosts the weekly music podcast ‘You Should Check It Out’ with fellow geeks and college buddies Jay Rossman and Nick Kline. They share their thoughts on current and not so current musical topics and beyond, and also bring on special guests. Found wherever you listen to podcasts!

PAST PROJECTS:

The Funk Ark

For nearly a decade, Greg played lead guitar in The Funk Ark- an acclaimed world dance music ensemble whose second album High Noon, released on ESL Music and produced by grammy-nominated Adrian Quesada (Black Pumas), earned them a global following. They toured relentlessly across the U.S. and Mexico- showcasing at SXSW and Electric Forest Festival, as well as the opening act for a wide range of artists: from funk pioneers George Clinton and Maceo Parker, to modern acts Trombone Shorty and Thievery Corporation. Their third album ‘Man is a Monster’ was co-produced by Greg and released on Ropeadope Records, and when the band was hired to back up R&B icons The Impressions, he was co-musical director.
